The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have today issued a Notice To Sue to the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) for USD $42 million.

The issue stems from the apparent inappropriate behaviour of the West Indies cricket side during last night’s ICC World Twenty20 semi final.

“India are the hosts of this event and therefore have earned the right to maximise revenues,” said BCCI treasurer Anurag Thakur.

“By defeating India in the T20 semi final, the West Indies have effectively cost the BCCI $42 million in lost income.

This is completely unacceptable.

The TV audience for the final will now obviously be lower than budgeted.

Therefore, the competitive tension for advertising spots from those skin-whitening creams like “Fair & Lovely” has diminished. This has cost us revenue.

The ability for us to have a foreign journalist ask MS Dhoni if he will retire at another press conference has now also gone. That’s millions of retweets and Facebook shares lost.

The BCCI are also considering issuing a Notice To Sue to Cricket New Zealand.

“Let’s be honest.

Having England in the final of an ICC tournament is more circus act than serious cricket outcome.

By stuffing up the semi final, New Zealand have robbed the BCCI of staging a world class cricket event.

Now we have to watch a band of internationally born mercenaries like Morgan, Jordan, Stokes and Roy representing a country they were not even born in. That’s nearly half the team.

It’s a farce and makes a mockery of the whole thing.

Imagine if they had picked Kevin Pietersen to play.

I shake my head.”

For it’s part, The WICB hit back citing that it was unaware that the match had a predefined outcome.

“I didn’t realise that every T20 tournament played in India was the IPL,” said WICB President Cameron.

“I mean, bowling Kohli in the last over wasn’t a cricket tactic. It was a TV ratings ploy.”

“Perhaps if we were playing the Chennai Super Kings rather than a team named India, we may have better understood what was required from us.”
