More than a week after journalist Rajdeo Ranjan, the bureau chief of ‘Hindustan’, was shot dead in Bihar’s Siwan, the police has arrested five people. This comes after Bihar CM Nitish Kumar agreed to seek a CBI probe into the incident following outrage over the murder.

The arrests of five people comes after four suspects were initially detained on May 14, and DGP PK Thakur decided to conduct their own investigation till the CBI takes up the case. 

A notorious killer Rohit is also being interrogated by the SIT and Siwan Police in the case, The Times Of India reported.

“The police arrested five persons in connection with the murder of journalist Rajdeo Ranjan and recovered a 7.65 bore country-made pistol and three motorcycles,” Additional Director General of Police (ADG Headquarters) Sunil Kumar told reporters here.

He said Rohit Kumar has admitted that he fired on the scribe resulting in his death.Search is on for some more persons involved in the crime, he added.

The 42-year-old was shot dead by gunmen on bikes near Siwan railway station on May 13, as he was hit by bullets in the head and neck.
