When Game of Thrones Season 5 premiered in April 2015, we were all excited to see more of the unnerving events as the story unfolded. But then June 2015 happened and we saw the season end with Jon Snow’s death. I mean, how the hell could they kill him?

As devastating as it was to see the end, some of us didn’t really lose hope about Snow’s return to the future GoT seasons. Here are 10 solid reasons to back it up:

1. Kit Harington has been spotted with his (former?) co-stars in Belfast, where they’re all shooting for Season 6.

And spotted more than once by the way:

Only 2 logical conclusions come from this: either he’s on a super long vacation or a part of the cast and crew.

2. Kit said he would cut off his ‘Jon Snow’ hair as soon as his character would die on GoT. However, in all his recent photographs, he has been found sporting the same hairstyle.

Here he is at Wimbledon 2015.

3. Recently, HBO network had an ‘oops’ moment with an email they sent while promoting their ‘Honour The Fallen: The Memoriam Collection ‘ toys, which basically is a toy collection of all the dead characters of the series. Guess who was missing from the list?

4. Also, last year, The Hollywood Reporter covered the fact that several GoT stars renegotiated their contracts for Season 7 and among them was Kit Harington.

Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Maisie Williams, Sophie Turner and Natalie Dormer too constitute the list.

5. George R. R. Martin’s original plan was to leave 5 characters alive throughout the series: Daenerys, Tyrion, Arya, Jon and Bran. While a lot has been changed from what Martin originally planned, we can hope for him to stick to this particular point.

6. Of course, there is also the Azor Ahai theory , according to which Jon Snow could be the Lightbringer reborn. And that Lady Melisandre will play a huge part in this.

7. Let’s also acknowledge the fact that we still cannot be sure of the Hound’s death in Season 4, where Arya leaves him in the middle of nowhere to die, and so, we shouldn’t jump to any conclusions about Snow either.

8. Remember Lady Stoneheart? We’ve been waiting for her to join the show since last year. An expert from Vanity Fair might have an explanation for the delay: Show-runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss may have been delaying the process only to introduce her at the same time as Beric Dondarrion a.k.a resurrected Jon Snow .

9. There is also the dragon rider theory based on which many believe that the series will end with the Khaleesi riding off on Drogon, flanked by two as-of-yet-undecided riders on Viserion and Rhaegal. It’s quite possible that they’d be Jon ( Rhaegar + Lyanna = J theory ) and Tyrion ( Aerys + Joana = T theory ) as both are rumoured to have come from Targaryen bloodlines.

10. And come to think of it, just because the show-runners have said that Jon Snow’s not coming back ‘next season’, does not mean we rule out the possibilities of him returning in Season 7 now, can we?

The character might be reintroduced with a different name for all we know. We can either let all this mess with our heads or take a cleaver hint.

No need to feel shattered. Harington, Weiss, Benioff and Martin can no longer fool us.
