They say that nothing is permanent in today’s world. But they’re wrong. Things come and go, you witness ups and downs, relationships begin and end, but there is one thing that stays just the same: our old friends. They’ve seen us transform from bratty kids to grown up professionals and even if we don’t meet them often, they make our lives better just by being a part of it. But very often, we get too busy or are just plain lazy, and end up losing touch with them.

However, it’s never too late to pick up the phone and make a plan. Here are 11 reasons that will make you call your old friends:

1. They know you inside out.

When they are around, you don’t have to pretend to be someone you’re not because they know you best.

2. And still don’t judge you.

They’ve seen you transform from who you were to who you are now and don’t judge you one bit because they were as stupid as you.

3. They’re proof that life is not so bad after all.

They are sailing in the same boat as you and are proof that you’re not the only one whose life is messed up.

4. Just to remember the good old times…

To remember the times when canteen, class breaks, and washrooms were the most frequented places.

5. …and laugh together at embarrassing memories.

Remember that time when we were caught eating food in class? Or that time when we were punished and we giggled standing outside the class? You get to revisit so many such memories, smiling and thinking of how silly you used to be.

6. To reconnect with our roots.

Life is a roller coaster ride. Often, it gets to us, and we forget where we’ve come from. But old friends ensure that we stay connected with our roots.

7. To gossip.

Who doesn’t like to gossip about that ‘hottest girl in the batch’ or the ‘richest guy in the school.’ Isn’t it fun to see how far their looks and money took them? *Evil grin*

8. …and to introspect.

Old friends are life’s automatic reality check meter. Meeting them is not all fun and frolic. They also make you introspect.

9. Because you always pick up right where you left off.

Even if you meet them after ages, there will never be any kind of awkwardness. You always pick up right where you left off.

10. You see kids calling out to their ‘BFFs’ and you know you’ve really got your forever in your old friends.

11. The planning to meet probably takes more time than the meeting itself, but it’s always worth it!

It really is.

And, because you really shouldn’t need a reason to meet them in the first place.

It’s been really long and it would be good to hear from them. So, what are you waiting for? Call up your old friend right now and make a plan!
