Recently, a 31-year-old auto driver was caught by the police for burglary. He shocked the investigators when he confessed that he had HIV and despite knowing about his infection had had unprotected sex with 300 women including married ones, who were mostly his passengers.
The culprit lived at Mirjalguda in Malkajgiri, Hyderabad. The auto driver had married thrice but his wives left him because of his odd habits.
Merwya Carl, a software engineer from Seven Hills Colony in Uppal, filed a complaint at Uppal Police Station on October 17 alleging that the burglar took away five tola gold jewellery from his house. Carl and his wife were out of the town for nearly 2 months on personal affairs. They left their keys with a group of trusted friends, the auto driver being one of them.
When the police summoned all the friends for questioning, the auto driver confessed to his crimes. The police further grilled him about other crimes he had committed, he then confessed about gambling, for which he had been booked previously at Lalaguda and M alkajgiri police stations.

“He also confessed that he has been suffering from HIV disease, which he came to know about several months ago. The auto driver also claimed he visited prostitutes daily and had illicit affairs with several other women, with whom he practiced unsafe sex even after realizing about his disease,” said Uppal inspector (Detective) Khaja Moinuddin said.
The culprit was remanded in judicial custody.
