The bragging rights are officially with Karnataka. In the recent Swachh Bharat Rankings done by the Union Urban Development Ministry, Mysore has been declared the best city in the country out of 476 cities.

Karnataka also took poll position in the rankings for state capitals, with Bengaluru coming up top.

Karnataka also managed to get 4 cities in top 10, with Hassan, Mandya and Bengaluru all following Mysore’s trail.

The rankings and survey, which was conducted in all 476 class-1 cities, were done based on a number of parameters including the extent of open defecation, solid waste management, seepage management and drinking water quality among others.
