Three militants and a civilian have been killed in the Karnah sector of north Kashmir near the Line of Control after heavily armed militants on Wednesday morning attempted to storm into an army camp.

The militants attacked from the rear side of the 3/1 Gorkha Rifles (104 Infantry Brigade) camp at 6.15 AM, which resulted in few vehicles catching fire.

Militant group Jaish-e-Muhammad, which has in the past carried most of the attacks in the state, has claimed responsibility for the attack, CNN-IBN reported.

“The militants were heavily armed as they used small fire arms and grenade launchers to carry out the attack,” Srinagar-based defence spokesperson Colonel NN Joshi told ScoopWhoop.

The gunbattle between security forces and militants was on till afternoon and t he army called in special forces to deal with the situation.

Srinagar based Army’s Chinar Corps in a statement said: ” Three weapons have been recovered from the killed militants. Operations are in progress to fully sanitise the area.”

Tangdhar sector is close to the LoC in Kupwara district and has been used as an infiltration route in the past.
