In Beijing, China, thousands of commuters were trapped on the G4 Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Expressway on Wednesday, “target=”_blank”style=”color: #ff6600;”>China’s The People’s Daily reported .The massive traffic jam was caused by a new checkpoint that caused 50 lanes to merge into 20 lanes, according to a report in The People’s Daily. So perhaps you can put it down to bad planning — but one would have thought 20 lanes would have sufficed. But millions of tourists made trips around the country to celebrate China’s week-long National Day getaway and no one factored that in.
And this wasn’t even the worst jam that China has seen. In 2010, they experienced a jam that was labelled the Great Crawl of China — a 60-mile jam that lasted for 12 days.When they finally managed to get out of the jam, people were asked what they remembered about their vacation and most of them drew a blank. Of course, we are kidding but who knows… that’s exactly what might have happened.
