There's a lot to look forward to from 2016 when it comes to cinema with some of the most awaited movies like Deadpool, Batman vs Superman and what not making their way. But the anticipation doesn't croak just there and quite a few other very promising and interesting movies seem to be ready for an appearance that most of us might have missed out on.

1. The Witch (Horror)

Starting off with a horror flick, The Witch is set for a UK release in March, 2016, with a plot set in the 17th century about a family torn by forces of black magic and witchcraft.

2. Demolition (Drama)

Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Demolition is set for an April, 2016, release in the UK following the story of a middle aged investment banker trying to deal with the death of his wife. This one looks cooler than it sounds.

3. High Rise (Sci-fi, Action)

Set for a March release this year in the UK, High Rise stars Tom Hiddleston in an epic thriller/action movie about a group of people who get stuck inside a skyscraper in the midst of chaos.

4. Free State Of Jones (Action, Drama)

Releasing in May in the UK and starring Mathew McConaughey, this action drama film follows a farmer from Mississippi who leads a group of rebels against the Confederate army during the civil war.

5. Risen (Action, Drama)

A retelling of the biblical story of resurrection though the eyes of a non-believer, Risen will hit UK theatres in May.

6. Elvis & Nixon (Comedy)

Starring Kevin Spacey and Michael Shannon, Elvis & Nixon is a comical telling of the untold story behind the meeting between the two personalities from history.

7. Finding Dory (Animation Comedy)

The addition to the Finding Nemo franchise, Finding Dory stars Ellen DeGeneres playing the forgetful blue tang fish setting out in search for her family. We know you were waiting for this one.

8. The Brothers Grimsby (Comedy Action)

Starring comedy's favourite Sacha Baron Cohen and Mark Strong, this action comedy flick releases in February in the UK showing the hilarious story of a spy who is forced to team up with his not-so-bright brother for a mission.

9. Money Monster (Thriller Drama)

Set for a May release in the UK, Money Monster stars George Clooney and Julia Roberts in a story of a TV personality of a financial network show taken hostage by a disgruntled investor. The edge of your seats is where you'll be.

10. Hail, Caesar (Comedy, Drama, Musical)

A hilarious story set in the 1950s about a Hollywood fixer who's lead star gets kidnapped, Hail, Caesar is set to release in March in the UK starring George Clooney, Channing Tatum, Scarlett Johansson, Josh Brolin and many more. Hilarious.

11. The 5th Wave (Sci-Fi, Action)

Four waves of a deadly alien attack have brought humankind to the brink of extinction and the fifth wave is meant to wipe them out completely. The 5th Wave is set to release in January, 2016, in the UK and it looks really cool.

12. 10 Cloverfield Lane (Drama, Sci-Fi)

10 Cloverfield Lane is set to release in April, 2016, in the UK and follows the story of a woman who wakes up in a strange man's basement after a car accident. The man claims he saved her from a chemical attack that has the left the outside world uninhabitable.

13. Triple 9 (Crime, Thriller)

Although you might have managed to spot the Triple 9 trailer, it deserves a spot on the list to be one of the most awaited. Starring Aaron Paul, Kate Winslet, Woody Harrelson and many others in the crime thriller about a gang plotting the murder of a cop in order to pull of a heist. This one's gruesome.

14. Exposed (Drama)

Starring Keanu Reeves, Exposed is set to release in February in the UK this year and tells the story of a detective investigating the death of his parents. The investigation soon reveals police corruption realities and a fairly ugly can of worms is opened.

15.  Warcraft (Action, Adventure, Fantasy)

Although there has been quite a buzz internationally regarding the movie make of the popular video game, Warcraft, there has been very little talk over here. Warcraft is going to be one epic movie.

This is going to be a good year.
