We know there are two things Goa is popular for:

1. The chill life.

2. Failed Goa plans.

But there is one more thing Goa is very popular for: Hidden treasures. If you have been to Goa, you know exactly what I am talking about. Amongst those concealed gems is the Figueiredo House.

Nestled in a peaceful village of South Goa called Loutolim, the Figueiredo House is more than 400 years old, dating back to 1590. The walls of this house speak of rich history and the best part -- you can actually stay here for a night or four (you bet you want to stay here longer) to absorb all the stories that every element of the house has to tell.

The house is owned by the Figueiredo family, a renowned family whose members have served as diplomats, lawyers, and even the Portuguese parliament. The house is like a book of short intriguing stories that are waiting to be heard.

The house also harbors a museum called the Figueiredo Museum. The furniture, antique showpieces, porcelain, chandeliers made out of Belgian crystal and other motifs & curios have been conserved over several generations. There is a good chance that you will feel like you have entered a different era as you set your foot into the house.

"We opened the house and museum for public in the year 2010. The entire house has been renovated with modern fittings while also, maintaining the vibe of our traditional home."

Maria de Fatima Figueiredo de Albuquerque, daughter of the owner of the house, Maria de Lourdes Figueiredo de Albuquerque de, told ScoopWhoop.

There are a total of five bedrooms, several common areas and guest lounges in the house. Along with that, you would find a little courtyard and a garden where you could read a book or something. Don't worry if you aren't carrying a book along, for they also have a family library where you could borrow one from. There is also a ballroom, if you fancy a dance or something.

Wondering how much a night-stay would cost in a historic house like this one? Actually, not a lot!

The prices of the rooms start from Rs 4,000 on onward and includes breakfast. If that is out of your budget, you can still visit the Museum for a small fee of Rs 200.
