2018 is almost at a close and boy has it been an exciting year for tech, especially the smartphone. One thing that we personally noticed was the swift disappearance of the bezel and the start of the end for the headphone jack. Another thing was how quickly so called premium features and specifications only reserved for high end smartphones made their way to reasonably priced alternatives from various brand so quickly. Well, the party isn’t over. December still has some surprises up it’s sleeves and if you haven’t found your “soul-phone” yet, you might just find it in one of the phones that make up this list of the notable 2018 releases and yet to be released mavericks. Here you go:

1. Huawei Mate 20 Pro

The Mate 20 Pro introduces Huawei's flagship chipset for 2018, the Kirin 980. But more than that, it now comes with a triple-camera setup with one ultra-wide sensor and one telephoto sensor. The phone also looks a lot like the Galaxy S9+ with curved edges and comes in a bunch of new colours that really make the phone pop.

The LG V40 was also announced in October and will sport a total of five cameras on its body. That’s right. Five. Three at the back, two up front. Further, it's IP68-rated water and dust proof and has a 6.4-inch P-OLED screen with a notch. Expect it around Christmas.

3. Xiaomi Mi Mix 3

Xiaomi is one of among several manufacturers who have declared all out war against the bezel. Not that we’re complaining. The Mi Mix 3 has an edge-to-edge bezel-less display. They even put the front cameras inside the phone. It uses a mechanical slider to house the cameras on the front. The Mi Mix 3 also uses new gradient colours in the design and it seriously looks premium.
