Days after US authorities announced the arrest of Kickass Torrents' admin in Poland, Torrentz.eu, the Internet's biggest BitTorrent meta-search engine, has apparently shut down, if messages displayed on its home page are to be believed, though there is no official announcement from the site owners, reported Torrent Freak.
This is the welcome message that the website's homepage shows:
Moving further, if we try to click on any other links or insert a search query, the website redirects to a page displaying another message that reads “Torrentz will always love you. Farewell.” It also has shut down its operation from all Torrentz domains, including the main .EU domain (both HTTP and HTTPS version) as well as other backups such as .ME, .CH, and .IN.
Founded in 2003, Torrentz, the meta-search engine grew out to become one of the most visited torrent sites with over millions of visitors per day. The meta-search engine hosted no torrents of its own but linked to other sites like the Kickass Torrents, The Pirate Bay, ExtraTorrent etc.
Now with Torrentz.eu and KickassTorrents both shutting down, millions of users are left disappointed:
