The Bharatiya Janata Party flagged off its 'Partivartan Yatra' to woo voters in Uttar Pradesh and on Monday, senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh reached the volatile Kairana region.
In a fiery speech at a public rally, Singh said that if BJP is voted to power, it will act against those who use muscle power to terrorise people.
“Those using muscle power to terrorise people… hum dekhenge ki usne kitna ma ka doodh piya hai,” he said, reports Indian Express.
Kairana made headlines after the BJP alleged that Hindu residents of the area had fled due to harassment and crime in the region.
He said, "Kya halat ho gayi hai yahan par? Mataon aur behno ki asmat looti ja rahi hai. (What conditions are there here? Mothers and sisters' honour is being looted) People are being framed in false cases.”
Incidentally, BJP MP from Kairana, Hukum Singh is a key accused in the Muzaffarnagar riots.
Singh also blamed the incumbent Samajwadi Party government for misgovernance and worsening law and order of the state.
"If you don’t want feuds and corruption, vote for a BJP government in UP. Has the ruling Samajwadi Party fulfilled its promises even partially?” he said reports Hindustan Times.
