Barely two weeks after business executive Siddharth Sharma was killed by a speeding Mercedes in Delhi's Civil Lines area, another hit-and-run case has emerged in which a BMW rammed into three motorcycles killing one and injuring six.
The incident happened around 11:30 am on Saturday near gate number 7 of Noida stadium in Sector 24. Two of the victims, Gulfam and Anwar, both 20, were returning from work on a bike when they were hit. Two others, Prem Kumar and Jogendra Bhandari, were also injured. They were all rushed to a nearby hospital in Noida.
However, the condition of Gulfam, a 20-year-old AC technician became critical as he had suffered head injuries. He was rushed to Safdurjung hospital in Delhi at night where he was declared brought dead. The condition of the other injured is said to be stable as per police reports.
According to reported eye-witness accounts, locals gathered around the BMW after the accident. The driver then allegedly took out a gun and threatened to shoot them. Minutes later, another BMW arrived which picked him up and sped away.
The driver of the BMW who is absconding has been identified as Vinod and is a property dealer by profession.
"We are examining all witnesses and their statements are being recorded," local police officer Gaurav Grover told NDTV. The car is reportedly registered in the name of a woman named Neetu from Haryana.
“The driver fled, leaving the car behind. We have seized the car and registered a case under proper IPC sections at Sector 24 police station," he added as per a report by Hindustan Times.
