We all know this guy.

The ‘solution’ basically meant extermination. And it’s not like they simply killed people with bullets. No, that was just reserved for those who were too old or fragile to walk. The fate that awaited most was the horrific gas chambers (especially women & children). The horrors of which are, sadly all too well, visible in this photo.

Prisoners were poisoned with Zyklon B. And yes, those are scratch marks.

Or they were taken to the doctors. And no, they weren’t normal doctors who helped in any way. One Josef Mangele was nicknamed the “Angel of Death”. He performed various experiments according to his whims and fancies on the poor POWs.

From deliberately infecting them with diseases to sealing body parts, the doctors inside Auschwitz resorted to every inhuman practice possible.

The amount of prisoners that were killed there can never we determined, since bodies and ashes were disposed off. But around 1.1 million people died there, 90% of which were Jews.

The Nazis did everything they could to ostracize the Jewish population: they pillaged, raped, killed and stole from them. The horror of the Auschwitz concentration camp is so scarring that it still makes people gawk in disbelief over the trauma that the Third Reich forced upon its inmates.

While the Nazis stole everything they could from the Holocaust victims while admitting them, one family outsmarted them for more than 70 years!

Staff members at Poland’s Auschwitz Museum recently discovered that an old mug had a false bottom that concealed a ring and a necklace. 

“It was very well hidden, however, due to the passage of time, the materials underwent gradual degradation, and the second bottom separated from the mug,” said Hanna Kubic of the Memorial Collections. 

Tests on the pieces of jewellery found gold 583, which was commonly used in Poland between the years 1921-31. The museum still doesn’t know who owned the cup!

Many of those who were sent to the camp were misled into believing that they’d be given work and a new life. The concentration camp saw 1.1 million murders during the Holocaust! Most of the victims were Jewish, but the Nazis also killed Gypsies, Ukrainians, Belarusians, Soviets and Poles. 

But hidden items have been uncovered every now and then, that shows that the Nazis didn’t get everything.

“Despite the passage of more than 70 years since the liberation of the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp, there are still cases of accidental discovery of objects hidden by the victims,” a museum staff member said.

There are some 12,000 pieces of kitchenware in the collection, including pots, cups, kettles, bowls.

I wonder what other secrets the Auschwitz harbours!
