Absurd arguments are commonly heard in debates on news channels, but the Maharashtra government just went a step ahead and described the water crisis as a consequence of the "wrath of the rain gods", before the Bombay High Court.

The point was put forth while the Bombay HC was hearing a PIL against holding IPL matches in Maharashtra, and asked BCCI if they were willing to contribute to the Chief Minister's relief fund and said, "Can you provide 40 lakh litre water which you used earlier to the affected drought areas?"
Meanwhile the government of Maharashtra told the High Court that they have asked BMC to conduct an inquiry for ascertaining the source of water used for the first IPL match in Mumbai, and will not let IPL use even a litre of potable water.
The High Court also asked BCCI if it could shift IPL matches out of Pune and Mumbai, as BCCI has been given till tomorrow to respond.
