Among other things, a very quintessential part of life in Mumbai are the dabbawalas of the city, as they have been praised by top business schools and joined by the likes of Prince Charles, for ensuring that the working class of the maximum city gets a wholesome homemade meal.
While the sight of a dabbawala ahead of lunchtime is a delight for dedicated professionals, they were in for a surprise when dabbawalas brought a complimentary KFC meal along with their home cooked lunch.
With the Hot & Crispy chicken, Hot Wings, Rice and gravy, Pepsi and Chocopie, the 5-in-1 Meal Box is KFC's latest offering, as the dabbawalas made sure that Mumbai's hard working professionals could get the first bite for free as the variation has been launched in stores.
In the past Mumbai's dabbawalas have also tied up with e-commerce giant Flipkart to deliver their products in the city.
The service started off 125 years back with a banker hired the first ever dabbawala, and today there are 5000 of them delivering 200,000 tiffins every day, as they have also taken their business online.
