In a last ditch measure, a delegation led by Film & Television Producers Guild of India president Mukesh Bhatt and Apoorva Mehta from Dharma Productions met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi on Thursday seeking support for the smooth release of the film.

Speaking after the meeting, Bhatt said: 

• He gave me 100% assurance and the government of India will see to it that Ae Dil Hai Mushkil will release
• I now know that whatever MNS does I am protected and families do not need to fear when they come to see Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
• Rajnath Singh has assured there will be no law and order situation and he will speak to all state CMs.
• We have given them a clear mandate and government of India will decide the parameters how we operate and no one else.

Karan Johar has also appealed to CM Devendra Fadnavis, who has also promised firm action against those who break the law.  Fadnavis in a press statement said, “Police has taken very strict action on MNS today. Twelve members of he MNS who had gone to Metro cinema to threaten them have been sent to judicial custody till November 4”.

The Mumbai Police has arrested 12 MNS activists who had gone to the Metro multiplex in south Mumbai to threaten the theatre management not to screen the film. 

On Tuesday, Mukesh Bhatt, Anupama Chopra from the Mumbai Film Festival and the CEO of Fox Star India, which is one of the producers of the film, approached the police. 

Post the meeting Mumbai Police assured security against threats. 

In a statement to the media, Ashok Dudhe, DCP of Mumbai Police has confirmed. “We Mumbai Police will provide adequate protection to cinema theatres as and when required.”

The film is scheduled for release on October 28.
