The suicide of retired armyman Ram Kishan Garehwal at Jantar Mantar on Wednesday over the implementation of One Rank One Pension has unleashed a political storm with opposition leaders putting the entire blame on the government.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi who tried to visit Ram Manohar Lohia hospital to meet the slain soldier's family was stopped at the gates and detained. "Naya Hindustan ban raha hai bhaiya… this is Modijis India," he told ANI News.

Senior Congress leaders Randeep Surjewala and Kiran Choudhary were the other who got detained. Vehicular movement ouitside the hospital was thrown out of gear as Rahul's presence led to chaos.

Here is a video of Rahul Gandhi arguing with police officers inside Mandir Marg police station:

However, Delhi Police Special Commissioner MK Meena defended their actions saying that a hospital is not a place for demonstration.

Earlier, in the day, Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia who had also gone to meet the members of the family was forcibly taken out of the hospital and moved inside a bus.

Here is what he tweeted:

Eyewitnesses said Sisodia could enter the premises as he came in a civilian car, which went undetected by the security. A senior official of the hospital said the deceased, Ram Kishan Grewal, was "brought dead to the hospital at 1.45 AM last night".

"His body was sent for post-mortem to Lady Hardinge at 7.30 AM in the morning," the official further added.
