Hello y’all!

Have you heard the reprised version of Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast from Machine

Just so you know, it has gathered more than 50 thousand views on YouTube, already. If you haven’t heard it yet, then listen to it here:

We have been told that feelings don’t have a form. But as far as disappointment is concerned, every old song that gets revamped, explains what the feeling looks (rather, sounds) like.

Here’s what the world has to say:

While Tamma Tamma met it’s sad demise recently, now, Abbas-Mustan have ruined Mohra’s iconic Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast for their upcoming movie Machine

Why did they have to go ahead and massacre a classic, yet again? I guess I wouldn’t ever get to know. Just like, Tamma Tamma was recently destroyed.

While I absolutely love Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt and I simply can’t wait for Badrinath Ki Dulhania, I’m also pretty sure that there’s no need to ruin a 90s classic song to give a hit film.

In all honesty, I wouldn’t mind an updated version of Tamma Tamma or Humma Humma or for that matter, any other classic dance number. But why do they have to add an entire paragraph dedicated to bullshit that we call rap? Or ruin the original soundtrack with unnecessary EDM- like beats?

Frankly, we have had enough!

Now, let’s rewind to the 2000s.

Back to the days when absurdly shaped tattoos would find their way on people’s bodies and G-strings would peek out of their jeans because if DJ Doll could, then, so could we!

Sadly, with those horrible fashion choices came horrible remixed versions of songs that our parents (if not grandparents) grew up listening to.

You know when people say that too much of everything is bad, they are probably right. As far as Kaanta Laga and Kaliyon Ka Chaman were concerned, we were okay with it. But then came a flood of those pseudo 90s-American-pop-tunes remixed with old Hindi classics and it became a trend that we couldn’t stand anymore.

Thankfully, the decade ended and so did this blasphemy!

But who would’ve thought that this trend of remixing old songs would come back so soon and bite us in the ass!

And now that it is back, it comes with a heavy dose of Badshah-special.

Imagine mistaking rat poison for sugar and adding two cups of it to the cake you’re baking. While that is probably everything that could go wrong in making a cake, adding irrelevant rap to classics is rat poison in the music world.

He might be the leader of this movement but Badshah has many others following him. We haven’t seen our man Yo! Yo! do any of this in a while and we have only our stars to thank. But then there is Raftaar who revamped Bhool Bhulaiyaa’s Hare Ram Hare Ram and left us chanting ‘Hey Ram‘ after listening to it.

Imagine that you lend a book to someone and they return it after 10 years. The only difference being that now it looks like a pile of paper stapled together with some pages missing.

If it were me, I would go ballistic on the person who did this.

For those who give away their classic songs to other people, the final version is no less than that tattered and torn book. You still love it but you can’t do anything about it.

As a listener, all I can do is start a #Save90sClassics movement. And while I’m at it, give a whack or two (or more) to Badshah for single-handedly ruining my favourite songs!

Are you with me? Of course you are!
