Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa passed away on Monday at the age of 68 at Chennai’s Apollo hospital. 

The entire state is drowned in grief as party workers and the citizens alike mourn for their beloved leader.

Jayalalithaa loyalist and senior AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam took oath as the next CM of Tamil Nadu at the state Raj Bhawan or Governor’s residence. Tamil Nadu Governor Vidyasagar Rao began oath ceremony with a two-minute silence.

Jayalalithaa’s body is likely to be brought to her residence Poes Garden by 2′ o clock. Her body will be kept at Rajaji Hall for people to pay last respects.  Heavy security has been deployed at both Poeas Garden and Apollo Hospital.

State mourning will be observed for seven days from December 6, during which the National Flag on all the government buildings will be flown at half-mast.

Principal secretary of school education department Sabitha D declares all schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu will be closed for three days.

Anna University postpones all examinations scheduled between December 6-8

Due to the sudden demise of hon’ble CM Amma , all Anna university examinations scheduled between 6.12.2016 and 8.12.2016 are postponed. Dates will be intimated later. Also, classes are cancelled during the above three days, declared Anna University registrar S Ganesan.
