When your opinions are not met with approvals by some, you are criticised. But for women, these criticisms often come with threats of rape!
It's quite disgusting, but we have had several such incidents in the past.
This time, the target of such a threat was Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar. But the way she took on the man is commendable, and had the Twitter community condemning the sick act and supporting her.
This is what a man named Ganesh Aiyer (@Ganeshnoa) tweeted to Mehr on Sunday:
‘Mehr never dre 2 come India. Aftr ur dirty statement, thre r many Hindus eagerly waiting to rape U’ read his tweet. The tweet which also tagged Rajdeep Sardesai & Tarek Fatah, was sent on 8.48 pm on January 17 as per a report by Mid-Day.
Though the tweet was deleted, Tarar had saved a screenshot and immediately sent it to Mumbai Police:
The Mumbai Police responded promptly, offering her full assistance:
But the Twitterati was in no mood to forgive this man for his shameful act. Here are some angry reactions:
@Ganeshnoa why did you delete your tweet? Are you ashamed of your own stupidity? You should have left it there so the world could see it— Sunny Hundal (@sunny_hundal) January 17, 2016
