Three soldiers were killed while another was injured in an IED blast in Assam's Digboi area. The soldiers were travelling in an Army vehicle when the explosion took place.
"Three soldiers were killed and another was injured in the explosion," a Defence spokesperson said.
According to an IANS report, the incident took place at around 5.30 am, in the Pengeri area, Defence public relations officer Lt. Col. Suneet Newton said.

"They (the militants) had planted an improvised explosive device (IED) on the road. When the IED exploded, the convoy stopped. Then the militants fired indiscriminately," Newton said. The injured soldiers were taken to a hospital, he added.
Currently, the encounter is underway between the security forces and suspected militants in Tinsukia district.
