When the nation sits down to see another grand Republic Day parade on January 26 in the capital, they will also see a contingent of 36 dogs that serve the nation march past. This is the first time in 26 years that a contigent of Army dogs that help defend the nation's borders will be honoured in this manner.

According to India Today, the canine squad - comprising 24 Labradors and 12 German Shepherds - have been training for the event for the last four months since they arrived in Delhi.

These dogs have undergone rigorous training and disciplining to be able to help the soldiers on ground during various operations. And now dressed in matching uniforms and tails wagging furiously, the canine squad is set to show off their marching skills this January 26.
