In a first-of-its-kind initiative, a mosque in Kerala will hold the upcoming Friday namaz in sign language for those who are hearing impaired.

According to a Times of India report, Masjid Al-Rahma in Malappuram was inaugurated on Monday and will be the first mosque to provide sign language interpretation along with the namaz. 

Setup on a five-acre plot, the mosque can accommodate over 500 people.

Every prayer meet will be accompanied by its corresponding sign language and will be displayed on LCD screens installed in the premises, as per the report.

Talking to TOI about it, chairman of Ability Foundation, a non-governmental charitable organisation said that a mosque like this will be a blessing for people who were often left out during the prayer meet.
