Once A Burn Victim Himself, Taka The Doggo Is Now A Full-Time Therapy Dog For Other Survivors

Taka, a 9-year-old furball was once a victim of a house fire. He understands the trauma and now is on a journey to comfort burn victims by becoming a therapy dog.

In 2018, a fire broke out in Taka’s room in Georgia. Even though he survived the accident, Taka’s face was disfigured as he lost the fur on his face.

As he was suffering from emotional trauma, his vet Crystal Lesley decided to adopt him. Taka was however hostile towards the other dogs and animals that Crystal had.

That’s when Crystal sought Mandy Foster’s help to train Taka to be a therapy dog for the burn centre.

Mandy Foster is the founder of Canine Foster Project who’s working very hard to train Taka mentioned: 

He’s got the right temperament for it. Of course, he has the scars to show for it and he can relate to a lot of the people there so I think it’s going to benefit both him and the patients there.

Taka is training very hard to earn the Canine Good Citizen certification which will further help him become a full-time therapy doggo.

He really wants to give back to the society that saved him.

After what he’s been through, he wants to comfort the people who’re going through the same trauma. What’s a more selfless act than that?
