People Share Fond Memories Of ‘Diwali Safai’, The Annual Desi Family Ritual

Raunaq Bhatti

Diwali is this weekend and if you are part of any desi family and have a house you can call home, you must have been in the middle of a seasonal storm called the ‘Diwali ki safai“. Every year your mother and your father will put you up to this annual cleanse that hits your house. And this is how you realise how much you need to de-clutter every year.

Reading these people’s stories about their memories of safai, will make you tear up just a little (you can blame it on the dust, we won’t tell).
