Aamir Khan’s film Dangal may not have achieved the milestone of Rs 2000 crore at the box office as yet. But looks like, the sports biopic based on the life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, has got another opportunity to make it big globally.

According to a Tweet by social media strategist, Ramesh Bala, on Tuesday, the film has been granted another month’s extension for its theatrical screening in China.

Forbes magazine had recently reported that Dangal has become the first ever Indian film in the history to earn Rs 2000 crore ($307 million) worldwide. However, the news turned out to be false, as claimed by the spokesperson of the actor.

“We have been reading a lot of reports saying that Dangal has crossed Rs 2000 crore worldwide. Just to set the record straight, we want to clarify that Dangal’s official worldwide gross collection figure as of Thursday is Rs 1864 crore,” the spokesperson said as per a report filed India Today

As per mandate, China grants licence to only 34 foreign movies in a year with a screening restriction of a month. However, the country made some changes after a successful theatrical screening of Dangal.

The extension of screening license was first granted in July when the film became the first top-grossing non-Hollywood film in China.
