The trailer for Sujoy Ghosh’s Badla released today, and it brings back Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu as a lawyer-accused duo.
Amitabh Bachchan stars as lawyer Badal Gupta, who is apparently an expert at readying witnesses and hasn’t lost a case in 40 years.
Taapsee Pannu plays the victim, unjustly (according to her) embroiled in a controversial murder case.
The two-minute long trailer hints at how Taapsee Pannu is being blackmailed for an alleged affair, a murder she claims to have no part of, and is also apparently, a victim of a robbery gone astray.
But what the trailer–through Amitabh Bachchan’s questions–leaves you thinking, is whether she really is a victim, or just playing at one?
The movie also stars Manav Kaul and Amrita Singh, though not much is revealed about their characters.
The movie seems like a remake of the Spanish thriller, Contratiempo or The Invisible guest which is available to watch on Netflix.
