Questioning the pre-censorship of films, veteran actor Amol Palekar has approached the Supreme court and has sought relaxations in the same.
A petition was filed on behalf of Palekar on Monday regarding this, as per ANI.
The ANI report further added that a notice has been issued to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and the censor board, based on the PIL, asking both to file a reply on the actor’s plea.
In his petition, Palekar has pointed out that the CBFC does not have any member with a legal background, which leads the board to repeatedly violate filmmakers’ fundamental right to speech and expression.
He has also asked for a complete revamp of the cinematography Act of 1952.
“I have come to the court seeking a complete revamp of the Cinematography Act. Now in the modern world of Internet, social media, the present set has to change,” Palekar told NDTV.
