Banita Sandhu, the 20-year-old British-Indian actor’s performance in her debut movie, Shoojit Sircar’s October, is garnering rave reviews.

A British-Indian model, her tryst with acting began young, when she was only 11 years old. At the time she worked in various TV shows.

From acting she went on to modelling, while also pursuing her graduation degree in English literature.

However, her first brush with fame was when her appearance in Vodafone and Doublemint advertisements made her an instant internet sensation.

In fact she met Juhi Chaturvedi and Shoojit Sircar, screenwriter and director of October respectively, in 2016, when shooting for Doublemint’s ‘Ek Ajnabee Haseena Se‘ commercial.

Juhi, who has previously worked on scripts like Piku and Vicky Donor, was working on the script of October at the time, and according to her, Banita seemed the perfect fit for the role.

Banita also said that she agreed for the role without even hearing the script in detail because, she was “desperate to work with Shoojit sir again.”

At that point, she didn’t even know that Varun Dhawan was going to be her co-star in the movie.

However, before she started shooting for the movie, she had to work on her speech and dialect, since she had no command over the Hindi language.

For a debut film, the romantic drama October was definitely not an easy choice, but both Varun and Banita have been earning praises on social media for their performance.

Another thing evident on social media is Banita’s quirky sense of humor, and a penchant for all things fun.

And she definitely seems to share a great chemistry with co-star Varun Dhawan, on screen and off screen.

Also, she maybe on her way to become a star, but like all of us, she’s a fan of food, and Lana Del Rey.

She definitely seems like an actor to watch out for!
