After making the highly-acclaimed 2015 Bengali film, Rajkahini, director Srijit Mukherji has now directed the Hindi remake of the same.

Titled Begum Jaan, the film stars Vidya Balan in the titular character.

Set in 1947, it is the story of a group of women fighting to save their brothel from being demolished as after it the partition, it stands on the newly-made India-Pakistan border.

The film also stars Ila Arun, Gauhar Khan, Ashish Vidyarthi, Rajit Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah in pivotal roles.

The Bengali original, starring Rituparna Sengupta, won tremendous acclaim from both the audience as well as the critics and we’re hoping the Balan and Co. don’t leave us dissapointed.
