Today in trivia you didn’t know you needed, Ed Sheeran’s cameo character in Game of Thrones was apparently burnt by Dany’s dragons. But somehow he still lived to see another tragic day in Westeros.
Season 8 episode 1 was full of reunions and callbacks to events in the previous seasons. And one peculiar callback was camouflaged in some signature GoT sexposition.
In the scene where Bronn is getting it on with three women, they’re discussing how Daenerys’ dragons have been creating havoc in Lannister-controlled areas. The scene’s dialogue goes something like this:
Woman #1: That boy Eddie…Woman #2: The ginger?Woman #1: That’s him. Came back with his face burnt right off. He’s got no eyelids now.Woman #2: How does he sleep with no eyelids?
Basically, ‘Eddie’s face was burnt to a crisp, but he managed to survive. He’s probably lurking somewhere in Westeros breaking into songs we don’t want to listen.
Ed Sheeran even put out a story, winking at this reference and thanking the show for not killing him off.
The dragon burns may have been a nudge to all the ‘burns’ he received on social media for his universally disliked cameo in GoT season 7.
