The inauguration of CBFC’s new office in South Mumbai saw a host of celebrities marking their presence at the event. But, what couldn’t go unnoticed was the absence of its board members.

According to a report filed by Mumbai Mirror, Censor Board members didn’t get an invitation to attend the inaugural function and there are two reasons as quoted by the CBFC CEO, Anurag Srivastava.

CBFC was reportedly facing space constraint at their old office in Malabar Hill, which has been there since 1950s. The board moved a proposal for allocation of space at the Films Division Complex at Peddar Road, South Mumbai. They now have the ninth floor of the building to carry out their work.

But, some board members reportedly were not keen on the relocation. The report further quotes Anurag as saying that it was understood that members would not be interested in attending function due to their displeasure.

Reportedly there was a delay in getting a confirmation from the chief guests Amitabh Bachchan and Ajay Mittal, Secretary, I & B Ministry due to which no invitation cards were made.

Srivastava was further quoted in the report saying that Chairman, Pahlaj Nihalani extended invite to film personalities through messages on April 2.

Besides Mittal who lit the lamp and Bachchan, who inaugurated the office as a chief guest, celebrities like Anupam Kher, Ramesh Sippy, Raveena Tandon, Mukesh Bhatt, filmmaker Abbas-Mustan, Sonu Sood, Vipul Shah, producer Sidharth Roy Kapoor and Boney Kapoor were also invited.
