How Anurag Kashyap Made Raman Raghav 2.0 With A Shoestring Budget Will Leave You Awestruck

Raman Raghvav 2.0 is premiering at Cannes this season and Anurag Kashyap fans are uber excited. The trailer of the film was creepy as hell and exactly what we were expecting from the film which is based on a serial killer. Recently, Rajeev Masand interviewed the director and he discussed the making of the film.

Kashyap told that him that he’d wanted to make a film on the notorious Raman Raghav, infamously known as Psycho Raman, but the budget constraints did not allow him to make a period film set in the ’60s. Even the title of the film Raman Raghav 2.0 came into the picture even before the script was ready.

Due to the budget constraints, Kashyap knew that he had to shoot the entire film in just 20 days. Kashyap discussed that he writes smaller scenes as compared to an average Hindi film, so if an average Hindi film has 70 scenes, Kashyap’s film will have 220 scenes. This helps in making the film look bigger as the locations keep changing.

He says that a low budget film must never look like a low budget film & for the lack of funds they shot everywhere in Mumbai. Anurag couldn’t use locations he had earlier exposed in films like Black Friday & Ugly and found a “new Bombay” in the Bombay city.
