Kalki Just Denied The National Award Groping Incident & It’s Time The Internet Calmed Down

The Internet has been abuzz with the reports of actress, Kalki Koechlin, being groped at the recently held 63rd National Film Awards. It all started with a report in an entertainment website suggesting that after collecting her National Award, actress Kalki Koechlin was mobbed outside the venue and things got worse when she was groped.

The story, albeit without any official confirmation, started building up soon after and various major publications picked it up, each sourcing the other.

As a result, the incident is majorly trending on the Internet as we write. However, to dig up facts, ScoopWhoop tried reaching Kalki and managed to get in touch with her publicist who spoke on behalf of the actress. Here’s what she said:

“I have been getting a lot of calls from the press inquiring about the incident. Nothing of this sort happened at the venue. It’s ridiculous how this story is being circulated.”

Our problem with the whole incident is that while news (true or false) doesn’t take any time to start trending these days, how hard is it to actually reach out to the source and get the confirmation before going to press? It is not just a woman’s integrity at stake, it is one of the very respected award ceremonies of India that we’re talking about here.

So time to chill back, Internet. You’ve been fooled.
