Sairat was undoubtedly the highest grossing Marathi film of 2016. Even the newcomer lead pair Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar won many hearts with their performances.
Directed by National award winning director Nagraj Manjule the movie was critically applauded and went to make a phenomenal business at the box-office.
Post that many filmmakers wanted to buy its remake rights, but now it is being speculated, that Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has finally acquired the same.
If the reports are true, it will be interesting to see who will be roped in to play the lead roles in the Bollywood remake and more importantly who will helm the project as a director.
