Anupama Chopra Reviews ’Ki & Ka’, Says The Idea Is Great But The Movie Is Blah

We’ve all been eagerly anticipating the arrival of ‘Ki & Ka’, mostly because it promised us something interestingly novel in Bollywood—flipping gender roles. Also, R. Balki, a man with ingenious ideas, has given us gems like Pa and English Vinglish.

But while the idea of a man, Kabir, who aspires to be a house-husband, is brilliant, it’s execution is sketchy, says Anupama Chopra. The movie runs out of steam and is a lost opportunity.

Unfortunately, the film also reinforces stereotypes, from Kabir attending kitty parties to wearing a mangalsutra, and Kia being an ambitious professional woman whose life revolves around presentations. Somewhere between the endless product placements, the synthetic textures and the half-baked screenplay, Ki & Ka derails.
