Back in January, Kalki Koechlin’s video poem, The Printing Machine, made a stirring statement on media’s representation of women. The video poem was highly applauded by viewers as a bold and unique attempt to shatter stereotypes that society had prescribed for women.
This morning, Kalki received a letter from Melinda Gates appreciating her efforts on bringing attention to the violence and discrimination against women in India.
The letter says:

Your video poem, The Printing Machine, was both powerful and thought-provoking.Thank you for bringing attention to violence and discrimination against women. Your voice helps bring much needed attention and support to these issues — and I am grateful for your efforts. It was a pleasure meeting you during my visit.

Melinda Gates is an American philanthropist who is also the co-founder of ‘Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’.
In recognition of her philanthropic work in India, Melinda and Bill were jointly awarded ‘Padma Bhushan’ in 2015.
