We’ve seen several dramatic films around the last wish of a dying man. However, in 2017 atleast, over-the-top drama and heavy dialogues are passe.
Thankfully, director Shubhashish Bhutiani brings forth the idea of fulfilling a father’s last wish minus all the melodrama usually found in Bollywood movies.
His film Mukti Bhawan is a simple story of a father who asks his son to take him to Varanasi (Benaras), where he desires to take his last breath. The middle-aged son, played by the very talented, Adil Hussain, and his father then reach Varanasi’s famous hotel, Mukti Bhawan, where people check-in to die and attain salvation.
They have the room for 15 days and death is as unpredictable as it gets. What happens in those 15 days looks like an unexpected turn of events.
