Remember Qhono Who Led Dany’s Dothraki Army? He’s Actually From Kerala!

Rohit Bhattacharya

Remember this guy from Game of Thrones?

He’s a Dothraki warrior, meaning he loves fighting, fucking and generally being a badass. This one also happens to be from Kerala!

His name is Staz Nair, and he plays the character ‘Qhono’ on the show. While you might have missed him on the show considering all the Dothraki look alike (is that racist?), this guy’s got a pretty interesting background.

Here’s what he looks like in real life, without all the warrior-lord stuff.

He’s a Russian-Indian actor and singer who hails from Kerala. He initially appeared on Game of Thrones in season 6, as part of the Dothraki horde escorting a captive Daenerys to Khal Moro.

At that time, he taunts and mocks his prisoner.

However, he later becomes one of Dany’s most loyal soldiers, and rises through the ranks to become the de facto leader of her Dothraki army.

His character was killed during the battle in Winterfell against the Night King’s army.

After the end of the show, Staz put out a heartfelt post about how much the show meant to him, and how it allowed him to reconnect with his Indian heritage.

Apart from being a horse-riding hellraiser on the show, Staz has also been blessed by the Lord of Good Looks. Like damn, what is that face?!

Like seriously, them genes though.

But hey, looks aren’t everything, right?…right. Let’s hope we get to see more of him soon!
