There are some pages of history that don’t make into our text books. And one such fascinating story is that of the Subhash Chandra Bose-led army unit, Azad Hind Fauj.

This was a unit under the the provisional Indian Government, that garnered the support of Imperial Japan while it developed in Singapore.

Unfortunately, the Azad Hind Fauj was unable to fulfill its goals. It met with a rather disappointing fate when the leading officers faced court martial under the provisional Indian Government, led by the British.

Popularly known as the Red Fort Trials, the officers were charged on the grounds of murder, abbetment to murder, torture and treason.

Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Raag Desh will bring to light the story of the joint court martial of three officers, namely Colonel Prem Sahgal, Colonel Gurbaksh Singh Dhillon and Major General Shah Nawaz Khan.
