While Hollywood has the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC extended Universe, Bollywood has for the longest time stayed away from venturing into this idea. However, times are changing and Rohit Shetty is all set to introduce the audience to the first ever Bollywood cinematic universe, they aren’t exactly superherous though.

Rohit Shetty told India Times while referring to his three cop movies.

I can’t claim that I am making India’s superheroes. But we are creating our own universe and I am happy that people are loving it and they know about this universe.

According to it’s Wikipedia page (yes, it has one), the universe is called Shetty’s Police Universe or Shetty’s Cop Universe which follows the storyline of the cop films made by Rohit Shetty. For now, it includes Singham, Simmba and Sooryavanshi. The third hits the theaters on 27th March, 2020 and stars Akshay Kumar as the lead cop with Katrina Kaif playing the first female cop in the universe.

When I started with Simmba, when we were scripting for the film and we thought about the universe getting merged, I was a bit scared. Whether people will (like it)… Suddenly they should not feel ‘what is happening’

-Rohit Shetty

He also hinted that there will be a film based on a female cop in the future.
