According to a report filed by News18, a bench of the Supreme Court comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra, has also restrained all states from banning the film.

The producers of the film had moved the Supreme Court through senior lawyer Harish Salve and advocate Mahesh Agarwal after states including Haryana, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand said they will not allow the film to be released.

The bench also observed,

“All states are constitutionally obliged to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident during the screening of the film across the country.”

As per the report, they submitted a petition asserting that the film was cleared by the Censor Board with five modifications including the change in the title and the states cannot impose a blanket ban on a film and its screening can be suspended in a particular area or areas on account of law and order problem, not across the states.

Here’s how Twitter reacted:

Can the makers finally breathe a sigh of relief?
