Shilpa Shetty & Govinda In Legal Trouble For ‘Ek Chumma Tu Mujhko Udhar De’ Song From The 90’s

Remember dancing on Shilpa Shetty’s and Govinda’s hit cheeky song Ek Chuma Tu Mujhko Udhar De De  way back in the 90’s ? We might feel nostalgic listening to this 90’s song from Chote Sarkar.  But for Shilpa and Govinda this song can only bring back haunting memories of a legal suit.

The Times Of India reported a Jharkhand lawyer filed a defamation case against the actors back in 2000, for alleged offensive lyrics which defame the states U.P and Bihar. The case which was scheduled for June 30th this year, resulted in arrest warrant order in July as the actors did not show up. Despite the repeated warning no action has been taken against the arrest warrant too.

Now, after several years Govinda and Shilpa have been asked to testify in the court in Pakur, Jharkhand on October 18.The report further suggests a non-bailable warrant was also issued on May 5th 2001, against the singers Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik and music composer duo Anand-Milind and lyricist Rani Malik.

The ‘offensive’ lyrics in question are, “Ek Chuma tu mujhko udhar de de, aur badle mein U.P, Bihar le le.”

Will have to  wait and see what turn will this court case take, till then how about doing down memory lane with the song?
