Sonam Kapoor Launches World’s Largest Lesson India Programme With UNICEF

Bollywood Diva Sonam Kapoor just became the highly regarded ambassador of the World’s largest lesson India programme, which was launched on 5th September, embracing the occasion of Teacher’s Day.

Indian Express reported Gems Education, UNICEF, Reliance Group and the Global Goals Campaign launched the project with 250 eminent educationalists, UN Global Goals champions, members of civil society, UN bodies, corporates, youth groups, students, teachers all gathered at the GEMS Academy for the event.This programme has been launched in 160 countries since September 2015, with the aim to educate every child in India.

Sonam Kapoor addressing the audience and the members there expressed the relevance of the education and what is her responsibility as an actress,

 “I am somebody who is very regretful of the fact that I didn’t finish my school after 12th grade. I went to university and I am trying to finish that right now. At the age of 30, I am trying to finish my under grade. I feel that films like ‘Neerja’ and ‘Khoobsurat’ were very inspiring. It was entertaining and engaged you. I think that simple ideas and simple messages are so effective that if told in simpler way, it can be more entertaining. It will create impact on young people.”
