A year ago when actor Sridevi unexpectedly passed away due to a cardiac arrest, the Hindi film industry lost its first female superstar.
And today, on her death anniversary, it is evident that the industry continues to mourn the loss of a talented star like her.
In an interview with Vogue, director Gauri Shinde, who worked with Sridevi on her critically acclaimed comeback film English Vinglish also talked about how heartbreaking the last year has been.
It’s been a year since her passing, but I still don’t think I have entirely processed that she is not around anymore… I still find myself speaking of Sri in the present tense sometimes. It’s very hard for me to speak of her in the past tense. Sri was shy but she sparkled in front of the camera and in private she was fun and hilarious.
Other members of the industry, friends, and family also took to social media to share messages remembering her.
Actor Sonam Kapoor also shared images of the star on her social media handle.
Recently, during an interview with Times Now, actor Ajay Devgn also commented on how her death was an irreplaceable loss for the industry.
Since my childhood, I was in awe of her for the kind of actor that she was. From whatever interactions I had with her, I know the kind of human being that she was and I do not think anybody can replace her in the industry. It is a loss which will never be filled up.
Sridevi was one of Bollywood’s finest actors who will always be remembered through her work, even as she continues to live on in the memory of all those who loved her.
