Sridevi Talks About Being Misunderstood For Taking Her Daughters To Social Events

Elder daughter Jhanvi Kapoor is currently waiting for her debut film to start rolling. Buzz is, that she will be seen sharing screen space opposite Shahid Kapoor’s brother, Ishaan Khattar in the Bollywood remake of critically acclaimed Marathi film, Sairat

Sridevi, who usually refrains from talking to media about her family, opened up for the first time while speaking to Mid-Day. Leaving her inhibitions aside, the actress expressed her feelings as to how every time her daughters presence at her events have been misconstrued as a mere promotion. 

“Earlier, I would take them to social gatherings and premieres that I attended. But they (people) thought I was promoting Jhanvi. Walking with my girls made me feel like a proud mother. But to the world, it became a reason to misunderstand me,” said Sridevi

Her 16-year-old daughter, Khushi had shut her critics on social media when they tried to body shame her a year ago.

But the actress was taken by surprise with the way Khushi handled the situation with dignity.

“For me, they will always be kids. But they seem to have taken less after me and more after my bold screen image. Last year, when Khushi wrote a post about body shaming on Instagram, I was pleasantly surprised to see my kid turn into a strong, opinionated and sharp young woman,” Sridevi told the tabloid. 

The actress who’s making a comeback on the silver screen after a gap of 5-years, will next be seen in Mom. 

Directed by Ravi Udyawar, the film also features Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna in a pivotal role. The film releases on July 7th.
