Before he became the Badshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan was a television actor. He gained recognition through the TV serial Fauji where he played Abhimanyu and followed it up with other TV shows as well.

It was in 1989 that SRK did the famous TV show Circus, where he starred opposite Renuka Shahane. The show was directed by Aziz Mirza and Kundan Shah, who later became instrumental in Shah Rukh’s success in films.

With Mirza, SRK did films like Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman and Yes Boss and it was Kundan Shah who directed Shah Rukh in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa.

The late 80s wasn’t the age of THE internet so a lot of his shows are not even available online but fans can now rejoice because Doordarshan is all set to telecast Circus again, starting February 19.

The 80s-90s were the golden age of Indian television and to watch a rerun of a show from those times and that too with Shah Rukh Khan in it, is certainly a treat for the viewers.

On the show, SRK played Shekharan who takes care of the circus and the drama was about his relationships with his co-workers.

Looks like Doordarshan will be the channel that will make us switch on the television again because honestly, Indian TV shows these days have been to just supernatural plots!
