Stampede Leaves One Dead At Vadodara After SRK Takes Train To Promote ‘Raees’

One person was killed and two policemen were injured due to a stampede after Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan arrived at the railway station on Vadodara on Monday night. 

The star was travelling to Delhi by the August Kranti Rajdhani Express for the promotion of his upcoming film ‘Raees’. 

However, this meant that were large crowds at every station awaiting the actor. From Mumbai Central, where the train starts from:

The train arrived at Vadodara station at 10:30 pm and halted for around 10 minutes. Cricketers Irrfan and Yusuf Pathan were also at the station to meet Shah Rukh Khan along with a large number of eager fans.

“The crowd went berserk when the train halted and began banging its window panes and even falling on top of each other. Police had to resort to mild lathicharge to control the crowd,” an official from the railway police told PTI. 

“When the train started moving, people started running along with it. Due to the rush, one person died of breathlessness and two policemen posted there to control the crowd were injured,” the official said. 

Local authorities said the deceased person was identified as Farheed Khan Pathan, a local politician.
